Officer Michael Rex, Westminster Police Department, was selected as the 2007 Officer of the Year for his
outstanding attention to duty resulting in the arrest of one suspect and leading to the identification of other suspects known as the Hooded Safe Bandits.


 







Trooper Lance Paa, Colorado State Patrol, was selected as the 2006 Officer of the Year for his outstanding attention to duty resulting in the arrest of a suspect who had just committed a bank robbery in Loveland and full recovery of the money taken during the robbery.


 







Officer Joseph Lane, Arvada Police Department, was selected as the 2004 Officer of the Year for his actions that led to the capture of an armed bank robber immediately after the robbery. The robber was responsible for several other bank robberies.


 








Officers Fred Dudley and Michael Ermentraut, Thornton Police Department, were selected as the 2003 Officers of the Year for their actions that led to the identification and capture of the Bag Bandit, who was responsible for 27 armed robberies in the north metro-Denver area in November and December, 2003, and the identities of two other suspects who joined up with him. The Bag Bandit was captured after a shootout with police, charged and ultimately sentenced to 64 years in prison. His two accomplices pled guilty and are also serving prison terms.


 






Officers Kevin Malloy (second from left) and Keith Graves (right), Denver Police Department, were selected as the 2002 Officers of the Year for their actions that led to the identification and capture of the Heroin Hooligan.











Officers David Sandoval (center) and Eric Bond (left), Aurora Police Department, were selected as the 2001 Officers of the Year for their actions that led to the identification and capture of the Eastside Motel Bandits. The officers were honored at the 2003 Western Robbery Conference in Breckenridge, Colorado.







Officer Andrea Schleser (right) receives the first ever Officer of the Year Award at the 2001 Western Robbery Conference in Breckenridge, Colorado. Andrea was selected as Officer of the Year for her actions that led to the identification and capture of the Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes Bandits.
