The
Kennedy Assassination and Lee Harvey Oswald Murder
This
year will be the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F.
Kennedy, the murder of Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit and the subsequent
murder of Lee Harvey Oswald. Detective Jim Leavelle was assigned to the
Dallas Police Department Robbery/Homicide Division at the time and was the
lead investigator in the Officer Tippit murder investigation. Detective
Leavelle was escorting Oswald and was handcuffed to Oswald’s right hand at
the time that Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby.
Detective Leavelle is a retired 26 year veteran of the Dallas Police
Department and spent ten more years after retirement assisting Dallas area
police departments with investigations. Detective Leavelle has lectured
extensively throughout the nation regarding the murders of President
Kennedy, Officer Tippit and Oswald.

William Gallegos,

The
Iran Hostage Crisis (1979-1981)
On
November 4, 1979 Detective Gallegos was serving as a Marine Embassey Guard
at the American Embassey in Teheran, Iran,
when a group of
militants took over the embassy in support of Iran's revolution. Detective
Gallegos and
51 other people were taken hostage and held in captivity for 444 days until
their release on January 20, 1981. Detective Gallegos will talk about his
time in captivity, their treatment and conditions, and what he and other
hostages did to survive, not only physically but mentally.
Detective
Gallegos is a 14 year veteran of the Denver Police Department, currently
assigned as a detective with the Denver FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).

American Theft Groups (SATG)
Detective
Frau is a 25 year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department. He has
worked in the Airport District General Investigations Unit since 1986,
developing an expertise in crime trends that impact major international
airports such as: airline ticket fraud, cargo theft, aircraft part theft,
airport internal conspiracies, domestic and international drug smuggling
and immigration fraud.
Detective Frau has surveilled, interviewed and arrested hundreds of SATG
members. Detective Frau recently helped develop the SATG Intelligence
Network, a not for profit organization designed to bring together law
enforcement, corporate executives and the jewelry industry with a focus on
providing a networking platform to address SATG related activity.

Bank Robbery Investigation Analysis
Detective
Hunt is a 28 year veteran of the Tucson Police Department. Detective Hunt
was assigned to the fraud unit in 1991 and has been assigned to the Robbery
Unit since 1999, investigating all types of robbery including business and
bank robbery, home invasions, highway robbery, car jacking and kidnapping.
Detective Hunt will speak about an interesting serial bank robbery
investigation that included pro-active probability analysis as well as a lot
of old fashioned police work, and the importance of each.

The
Hooded Safe Bandits Investigation
Agents
Eicher and Kowalski are both investigators assigned to the Rocky Mountain
Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF), an FBI violent crimes task force.
In July, 2007, RMSSTF was asked by several Denver area police departments
to assist in the investigation of a group of armed, take-over business
robbers who were targeting primarily fast food restaurants for early
morning robberies. The investigation took several twists and Eicher and
Kowalski soon became the lead investigators in an investigation that
involved high-tech investigative techniques, identified a number of
suspects, led to several car chases and was eventually filed in federal
court under the Hobbs Act.

Robbery Update and Analysis
Detective Woodward is a
32 year veteran of the Denver Police
Department, 21 years of which he has spent in Investigations. He was assigned to
the robbery unit for 15 years before being assigned to the Rocky Mountain Safe
Streets Task Force where he has worked for the last three years. Mark has been
president of the Colorado Association of Robbery Investigators for the last 10 years.
Mark will provide an analysis of the previous year's bank robberies,
suspects and trends, as well as a look at why the number of robberies
dramatically decreased after two years of record highs.
